Band scholarship auditions will be held during the spring semester. Anyone wishing to audition should complete an online scholarship application. Scholarships are granted to both music majors and non-music majors, so everyone has a chance to audition. Woodwind and brass players should prepare a published solo or etude that best demonstrates your performance ability. Everyone will be asked to sight-read and play a minimum of two (random) major scales. All 12 major scales with arpeggios should be prepared. Percussionists should prepare a published solo or etude on snare drum, timpani, and a keyboard percussion instrument as well as sight-reading on each of those three instruments. The band scholarship may also serve as your audition for admission into the Department of Music.

For further information on admission into the Department of Music and for information on audition pieces, repertoire and requirements, please visit the JSU music department website at http://www.jsu.edu/music/ and click on the scholarships link.
